The most dramatic shape in the Wexford lineup — and one of the most distinctive decanter silhouettes in American glass history. This is the Ships Decanter, or Captain Decanter: a long elegant neck that opens dramatically into a wide hexagonal base, originally designed to keep a decanter stable during a voyage at sea. Set it on a bar cart and it immediately becomes the focal point of the room.
The Wexford diamond pattern — rows of small diamonds on the upper band, larger diamonds below — covers the entire piece, stopper included, catching light from every angle. At 12 inches tall with the stopper and 6 inches wide at the base, it has a presence that the other Wexford shapes simply can't match. Excellent condition — no chips, scratches, or defects of any kind.
We carry the full Wexford collection — search "Wexford" in our shop to find the hexagonal, square, and Ships Decanter alongside matching glasses and serving pieces.
A standout gift for the dad who appreciates American glass, Mid-Century design, or simply the most handsome decanter on any bar cart.
Anchor Hocking was founded in Lancaster, Ohio in 1905 and became one of America's most enduring and beloved glassware manufacturers. Surviving a catastrophic 1924 fire, the Great Depression — when they kept the lights on by selling tumblers two for a nickel — and multiple corporate mergers, Anchor Hocking's legacy lives on in their most collected patterns. Wexford, introduced in the 1960s, remains among their finest work.
